Following Jesus in the Wilderness

This Winter into Spring we are “Following Jesus in the Wilderness.” The gospel of Luke will be our guide. And in particular, chapters 9 though 19. Luke’s gospel covers a lot of ground in the life and ministry of Jesus. It begins with the supernatural conception of Jesus. And ends with the ascension of Jesus. But in between these two bookends is a ten-chapter travelogue. It starts in v. 51 of chapter 9. Luke says: “When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem." And from this moment until Palm Sunday… Jesus and his followers are on the move. And it’s as if Luke is inviting you on the same journey with Jesus. So for the next few months we are going to learn what it means to follow Jesus in the wilderness.
