Table Read: Playing Our Part in God's Drama

A "table read" is when actors and actresses sit around a table - before their performance - to read the script together. Familiarity with the script generates boldness and greater confidence. It helps to know how their part fits into the big picture. Hence, the table read. Well, many Biblical scholars would encourage us to think of the Bible in terms of a drama, indeed "the true story of the world" in which a/ Jesus is the hero, and b/ we all have a part to play. And so this Fall we are going to get acquainted with the overarching story of Scripture. In other words, we are going to have a table read of sorts. Not just to learn the Bible (though we hope that happens), but in order to play our part well.
