WELCOME TO HOPE
It is our mission to extend the welcome of Jesus, and we hope that is what you experience. We also think it might be helpful to share a few things about this booklet you are holding.
It contains a liturgy.
A liturgy is a handcrafted order of worship. Like an artisan, we aim to collect all the varied pieces of gathered worship, and then place them together in the most beautiful and purposeful way possible: a way that honors you as a participant who engages with God and not a mere consumer, and a way that is relevant to our cultural moment but honors the historic and global church.
It is beautiful.
Members of hope create the cover art, the leaders of hope craft the content, and our connect card is a way to initiate relationship, the most beautiful part of hope.

REFLECTION
Clement (2nd Century)
O God Almighty, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, grant us, we pray thee, to be grounded and settled in the truth, by the coming down of the Holy Spirit into our hearts. That which we know not, reveal; that which is wanting in us, fill up; that which we know, confirm, and keep us blameless in thy service; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
CALL TO WORSHIP
Psalm 96: 1-13
LEADER
O sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples. For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; he is to be revered above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Honor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
ALL
Say among the nations, “The LORD is king! The world is firmly established; it shall never be moved. He will judge the peoples with equity.” Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it. Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy before the LORD; for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with his truth.
DOXOLOGY
Lyrics: Thomas Ken, 1674
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Amen.

Here I Am To Worship
CCLI # 3266032 | © 2000 Thankyou Music | Tim Hughes
Light of the world
You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes let me see
Beauty that made
This heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with You
So here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say
That You’re my God
You’re altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
King of all days
Oh so highly exalted Glorious in Heaven above
Humbly You came
To the Earth You created
All for love’s sake became poor
So here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say
That You’re my God
You’re altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
And I’ll never know
How much it cost
To see my sin
Upon that cross
And I’ll never know
How much it cost
To see my sin
Upon that cross
And I’ll never know
How much it cost
To see my sin
Upon that cross
And I’ll never know
How much it cost
To see my sin
Upon that cross
So here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say
That You’re my God
You’re altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
So here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say
That You’re my God
You’re altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
Be Thou My Vision
CCLI Song # 7056332 Eleanor Henrietta Hull | Mary Elizabeth Byrne | Russell Mauldin
Be Thou my vision
O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me
Save that Thou art
Thou my best thought
By day or by night
Waking or sleeping
Thy presence my light
Be Thou my wisdom
And Thou my true word
I ever with Thee
And Thou with me, Lord
Thou my great Father
I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling
And I with Thee one
Riches I heed not
Nor man’s empty praise
Thou mine inheritance
Now and always
Thou and Thou only
First in my heart
High King of Heaven
My treasure Thou art
High King of Heaven
My victory won
May I reach Heaven’s joys
O bright Heav’n’s sun
Heart of my own heart
Whate’er befall
Still be my vision
O ruler of all
Still be my vision
O ruler of all

CONFESSION OF SIN
LEADER
Draw us into your love, Christ Jesus, and deliver us from fear.
ALL
Gracious Lord: We confess that we often honor you with our lips while our hearts are far from you. We are content to appear righteous instead of truly being righteous. Please search our hearts, examine our motives, and forgive our faults. We turn from our lack of love and self centeredness. Awaken us to your glory, and send us your Spirit to renew and change our hearts. Help us to hear your good voice today above the noise and clamor of this world, so that we may follow you alone. Amen.
SILENT CONFESSION
GRACE ASSURANCE
Based on 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10
LEADER
You have deserted the dead idols of your old life so you could embrace and serve God, the true God. It is a marvel how you await the arrival of his Son, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescued us from certain doom.
HYMN
Jesus Is
CCLI Song # 7243929 Natalie Leonhard CCLI License # 20115471
I may be troubled and full of care
But I'm not broken beyond repair
When I am worried, I cling to this
I am no saviour, but Jesus Is
I may be walking the road of pain
But he will guide me along the way
So I’ll keep singing ‘cause even if
I am no shepherd, Jesus is
Jesus is Jesus is
When no one helped me, Jesus did
So I’ll keep singing ‘cause even if
I am no shepherd, Jesus is
I may be lonely without a friend
But I will carry my heart to him
He knows my sorrow, my grief is his
I am no healer, oh but Jesus is
Jesus is Jesus is
When no one heard me, my Jesus did
He knows my sorrow, my grief is his
I am no healer, but Jesus is
My eyes are weary the night is long
But I’ll wait for Jesus until he comes
To reign forever, world without end
I’m not so patient, but Jesus is
Jesus is Jesus is
So I’ll keep waiting like Jesus did
He'll reign forever, world without end
I’m not so patient, but Jesus is
I am no saviour, but Jesus is

LIFE OF HOPE

SCRIPTURE READING
Old Testament
Malachi 2:4-9
New Testament
Mark 12:38-40
SERMON

45 While all the people were listening, Jesus said to his disciples,
46 “Beware of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. 47 They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will be punished most severely.” 21 As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3 “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
Luke 20:45–21:4
PROFESSION OF FAITH
Heidelberg Catechism #111
LEADER
What does God require of you in the 8th commandment?
ALL
I must promote my neighbor's good wherever I can, and may deal with them as I would like others to deal with me, and work faithfully so that I may be able to give to those in need.
THE LORD’S SUPPER
1 Corinthians 11:23–26
The Lord Jesus, on the night when he was betrayed took bread and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body which is broken for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me."
HYMNS
In Christ Alone
CCLI Song # 3350395 Keith Getty | Stuart Townend
In Christ alone
My hope is found
He is my light
My strength, my song
This cornerstone
This solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love
What depths of peace
When fears are stilled
When strivings cease
My comforter
My all in all
Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone
Who took on flesh
Fullness of God
In helpless babe
This gift of love
And righteousness
Scorned by the ones
He came to save
’Til on that cross
As Jesus died
The wrath of God
Was satisfied
For every sin
On Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live
There in the ground
His body lay
Light of the world
By darkness slain
Then bursting forth
In glorious day
Up from the grave
He rose again
And as He stands
In victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His
And He is mine
Bought with the precious blood
Of Christ
No guilt in life
No fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry
To final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell
No scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
’Til He returns
Or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ
I'll stand
No power of hell
No scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
’Til He returns
Or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand
Nothing To Fear
CCLI Song # 7133723 - CCLI License # 201154711
When you pass through the waters
I will be with you
And the depths of the rivers
shall not overwhelm
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned
I am the Lord, I am the Lord
And there is nothing to fear nothing to fear
There is nothing to fear nothing to fear
For I am with you always
In the depths of your sorrow,
I wept beside you
When you walked through the shadow,
I drew you near
Yesterday, today, tomorrow,
always the same
I am the Lord, I am the Lord
And there is nothing to fear nothing to fear
There is nothing to fear nothing to fear
For I am with you always
And there is nothing to fear nothing to fear
There is nothing to fear nothing to fear
For I am with you always
What can separate you from my perfect love
What can separate you from my perfect love
What can separate you from my perfect love
Do not fear, do not fear, do not fear

BENEDICTION

LEADER
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
