WELCOME TO HOPE
It is our mission to extend the welcome of Jesus, and we hope that is what you experience. We also think it might be helpful to share a few things about this booklet you are holding.
It contains a liturgy.
A liturgy is a handcrafted order of worship. Like an artisan, we aim to collect all the varied pieces of gathered worship, and then place them together in the most beautiful and purposeful way possible: a way that honors you as a participant who engages with God and not a mere consumer, and a way that is relevant to our cultural moment but honors the historic and global church.
It is beautiful.
Members of hope create the cover art, the leaders of hope craft the content, and our connect card is a way to initiate relationship, the most beautiful part of hope.

REFLECTION
Bede, 7th century
“The grace of our Creator is so great that he has allowed us both to know him and to love him, and moreover, to love him as children love a wonderful father. It would be no small thing if we were able to love God in the way that a servant loves his master or a worker his employer. But loving God as father is much greater still.”
CALL TO WORSHIP
Psalm 34:1-5
LEADER
I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together!
ALL
I sought the LORD, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.
DOXOLOGY
Lyrics: Thomas Ken, 1674
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Amen.
PRAYER OF INVOCATION

HYMNS
Holy Holy Holy
Public Domain
Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God, almighty
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to Thee
Holy, holy, holy!
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity
Holy, holy, holy!
All the saints adore Thee
Casting down their golden crowns
Around the glassy sea
Cherubim and seraphim
Falling down before Thee
Who wert and art
And evermore shall be
Holy, holy, holy!
Though the darkness hide Thee
Though the eye of sinful man
Thy glory may not see
Only Thou art holy
There is none beside Thee
Perfect in power, in love, and purity
Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God, almighty
All Thy works shall praise
Thy name In earth, and sky, and sea
Holy, holy, holy!
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons
Blessed Trinity

Worthy of every song we could ever sing
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for You
Jesus, the name above every other name
Jesus, the only one who could ever save
Worthy of every breath
We could ever breathe
We live for You
Oh, we live for You
Holy, there is no one like You
There is none besides You
Open up my eyes in wonder
And show me who You are
And fill me with Your heart
And lead me in Your love
To those around me
Worthy of every song we could ever sing
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for You
Jesus, the name above every other name
Jesus, the only one who could ever save

CONFESSION OF SIN
ALL
God of mercy, whose Son, Jesus Christ, beckons us with the wide embrace of his love: We confess that we have been a wayward child. We have not listened to your call; we have been cold to your love. Your people too often fail to reflect your character to a watching world. In your great mercy, receive us again as your beloved children, not because we have earned your love, but for the sake of Jesus, who loved us and gave himself for us. Amen.
SILENT CONFESSION
GRACE ASSURANCE
1 John 3:1-2
LEADER
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
HYMN
Abide With Me
By: Henry Francis Lyte, William Henry Monk
Abide with me
Falls the eventide
The darkness deepens
Lord with me abide
When other helpers Fail and comforts flee
Help of the helpless
Abide with me
Thou on my head
In early youth didst smile
And though rebellious
And perverse meanwhile
Thou hast not left me
Oft as I left Thee
On to the close Lord
Abide with me
I need Thy presence
Every passing hour
What but Thy grace
Can foil the tempter’s power?
Who, like Thyself
My guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine
Abide with me
I fear no foe
With Thee at hand to bless
Ills have no weight
Tears lose their bitterness
Where is thy sting death?
Where grave thy victory?
I triumph still
Abide with me
Hold Thou Thy cross
Before my closing eyes
Shine through the gloom
And point me to the skies
Heaven’s morning breaks
And earth’s vain shadows flee
In life, in death, Lord
Abide with me

Slide 1
“Every single day, we are on trial. That is the way that everyone’s identity works. In the courtroom you have he prosecution and the defense. And everything we do is providing evidence for the prosecution or evidence for the defense. Some days we feel we are winning the trial and other days we feel we are losing it.” -Tim Keller
Slide 2
20 “When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. 22 For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written. 23 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. 24 They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
(Luke 21:20–24)
Slide 3
25 “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. 26 People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. 27 At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” (Luke 21:25–27)
28 When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
(Luke 21:28)
PROFESSION OF FAITH
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
THE LORD’S SUPPER
1 Corinthians 11:23–26
The Lord Jesus, on the night when he was betrayed took bread and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body which is broken for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me."
HYMNS
Establish the Works of Our Hands
CCLI Song # 7097860 Aaron Keyes | Isaac Wardell | Liz Vice Music LLC | Madison Cunningham | Orlando Palmer | Paul Zach | Sandra McCracken
If You don't build it we labor in vain
Without Your Spirit we stand with no strength
I know my time is passing away
And the works of Your hands are what will remain
Let the favor of the Lord rest upon us
O Lord establish the work of our hands
O Lord establish the work of our hands
Teach us to number the length of our days
Pour out Your power we'll pour out Your praise
Teach us to run to finish the race
For only what's done in love will remain
Let the favor of the Lord rest upon us
O Lord establish the work of our hands
O Lord establish the work of our hands
O Lord establish the work of our hands
O Lord establish the work of our hands

Goodness of God

(C) 2018 Alletrop Music (Admin. By Music Services, Inc.) - Remaining Portion Is Unaffiliated
I love You Lord
Oh Your mercy never fails me All my days
I've been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up Until I lay my head
I will sing
Of the goodness of God
All my life
You have been faithful
All my life
You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able I will sing
Of the goodness of God
I love Your voice
You have led me through the fire In darkest nights
You are close like no other
I've known You as a father I've known
You as a friend I have lived
In the goodness of God
All my life
You have been faithful
All my life
You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able I will sing
Of the goodness of God
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
With my life laid down I'm surrendered now
I give You everything
Your goodness is running after
It's running after me
Your goodness is running after
It's running after me
Your goodness is running after
It's running after me
With my life laid down I'm surrendered now
I give You everything
Your goodness is running after
It's running after me
All my life
You have been faithful
All my life
You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
I will sing of the goodness of God
I will sing of the goodness of God
