The Narrow Door and Spacious Feast

Series: The Gospel of Luke Passage: Luke 13:22–30

Jesus continues to describe his reign in surprising ways. Paradoxically, entrance to his kingdom is very narrow; and yet once you are inside it is very spacious. Those seated at his kingdom feast are not who you would expect either. Outsiders from all cardinal directions are in; insiders, however, are left outside the party (kind of like the older brother in the prodigal son story).

The "last" in life's line are first; the "first" in life's line are last. So we should ask: what flips an outsider to an insider? And flips an insider to an outsider? The single answer is a person: Jesus. He is the narrow door that insiders don't think they need. But he is also the narrow door that outsiders know they need. Who are you?
